Reviews for Adeno

What others are saying about ADENO...

"Adeno packs a powerful punch, starting right off with a grabber as the heroine struggles to heal the wounded gladiator she secretly loves. Both are slaves, with no rights to give them hope. Masterly world-building creates the vivid setting in which two compelling characters struggle to find their happy ending within a brutal culture. It’s a perfect blend of fantasy adventure with searing hot romance!"

What others are saying about HOT PHOENIX NIGHTS...

COFFEE TIME ROMANCE gives FIVE CUPS, their highest rating!

Hot Phoenix Nights is a book about getting away from ordinary everyday life. Shows that even when things do not look so good, there are different ways to handle it. That sometimes it is good to let go and be spontaneous.

Ms. Garza gives readers a breathtaking view into Josie’s world. Her refreshing dialog and characters make for a very good read. The plot is well thought out. The secondary characters gave a real life feel, without taking away from the story. The relationship between Josie and Crow is explosive with the sexual attraction drawing them in. I look forward to more books from Gabrina. This is a contemporary worth holding on to.

Playing with Magic: Hex on the Ex

Jory has been invited by his best friend Jake to a Fat Tuesday party in the middle of July. Jake recently bought a house with his friend Pierce to renovate it and now Jake wants to throw a party. Jory’s a little leery about attending the party because his ex-lover Pierce will be there and he still wants the man madly.

Jory and Jake have been friends for years. Jake was the person Jory confided in when he first came out and he even helped Jory come out to his girlfriend April. During the party, Jory meets Gidget, a costumed tarot card reader who claims Jory is full of blockage and therefore she’s unable to read his cards. Jory just laughs her off as he doesn’t give fortune telling any merit, but when Gidget tells him she’ll help him get what he wants most by casting a spell, he figures it certainly can’t hurt to try.

After Jory and Pierce have some rather hot sex, Gidget tells him the spell went wrong. Shortly thereafter Jory and Jake have a meaningful confrontation and Jory thinks maybe the spell has worked after all. What does it mean and with all this magic being performed what will the consequences be?

Playing with Magic Book 1: Hex on the Ex is an enjoyable and fun read about the beginning of one man’s self discovery with several moments of well written humor. Gabrina Garza has created several fascinating and fun supporting characters I’d like to read more about and even though Jory is a likable character he can be a little frustrating at times. If you’re a Boston Red Sox fan (as I am) or an Indiana Jones fan there is a spicy sex scene in Hex on the Ex you will appreciate! I’m looking forward to the sequel Playing with Magic Book II: Spell from Hell to find out what happens with these characters next.

Erik du Sable, also known as Monsieur le Caste, is in hiding due to hideous burn scars on his face, and the thought that his beloved Kasare would be repulsed by his disfigurement.  Kasare Montez
was in love with her betrothed Erik du Sable, but he perished in the fire. She would never marry again - she could not get her love for Erik to wither away. She loved him passionately, and she would
always love him. This is a beautiful love story, reminiscent of the old tale, Phantom of the Opera. It is intriguing as well as steeped with mystery. I loved this story, I thought Gabrina Garza
painted fabulous pictures with her words, and portrayed the individual needs as well as fears within each character, beautifully. Erik had so much to overcome, and I think Ms. Garza brought him through
his trauma magnificently. There is a M/M/F ménage in the story, as well as some M/M activity. I truly enjoyed the masque, I thought the costumes were described colourfully, and in vivid detail, and
although I did not care for the suffering, I enjoyed the various roles fire played throughout the entire story. I thought Erik and Kasare’s love and rediscovery was awesome. Great read Ms. Garza,
thank you.

Reviews for Sex Between Strangers

What others are saying...

Coffee Time Romance gives it FOUR CUPS!

Sara Anderson was about to get her husband back.  Nicholas Anderson had a near fatal accident over a year ago.  His body was ruined but his mind was kept intact in a lab at the Return To Me facility. His body may be different, but his mind would be the same.  Or so she thought...

This was a sensually beautiful love story.  Sara fought to get her husband back and by opening her heart and mind, gained so much more. Dace wanted nothing more than to become a man that Sara could love and depend on.   By forcing themselves to be honest with their feelings and desires, they forged a bond that went far beyond the physical.   Intriguing, sexy, and romantic, I cannot wait to read more from Ms. Garza.

In her capacity as chief engineer at Horizons Biomedical Center Sarah Anderson had helped to develop the technology used by the Return To Me Genetic Services facility to place her dead husband’s brain function into a donor’s body and, in essence, bring Nicholas back to life. The man in the beautiful body Sarah brought home wasn’t exactly Nicholas. Instead, he was everything Sarah had ever wanted and needed in a husband that Nicholas either couldn’t or wouldn’t try to provide. Return To Me demands to reinstall Nicholas’s brain function, but Sarah realizes she doesn’t want them to because she is desperately in love with the new man in her life.

I really enjoyed reading Sex Between Strangers. I loved Dace’s sense of humor and his desire to repair their sex life as well as his sexy body almost as much as Sarah does. Sarah is loving and giving, and deserves so much more than Nicholas ever gave. She and Dace are soul mates who belong together, but Nicholas’s company is floundering without him and Sarah is obligated to provide Nicholas and his expertise to pull everything back together. The writer’s voice is superbly sympathetic, the characters lovingly developed and the storyline is fresh and enticing. It felt as if my emotions had just gotten off an amusement park ride by the end of the story. I was drawn in almost immediately and my interest never waned during this fast paced, smoothly flowing saga of love lost and found again. I loved the story, the characters and the ending; what more could one ask for in a book?

Sara signs a contract with Return To Me Genetic Services to get her husband a new body since his has been damaged beyond repair. His mind is implanted into the body of a body donor. But Dace wasn't exactly like her “dead” husband Nicholas. Sara's body reacts to Dace’s body like it is made for him and him alone and the more different he is from Nicholas, the closer she actually starts to feel to him, because while she cares for her husband, she made every effort to save him more for the sake of duty than out of love.

But other forces need what's in Nicholas' mind and are willing to do whatever it takes to get it.

Gabrina Garza takes on a monumental controversy: what might potentially happen were a brain transplant to be successful. Sex between Strangers is truly a beautiful story full of hope, innocence and the beauty of second chances. Dace was an amazing individual and I would have loved to know have known him prior to his accident. Sara’s decision to be honest and try to build the future she’s always wanted with the man she married is inspirational and perfectly plotted. The love scenes are incredible and the ending very poignant and touching. I loved Sex between Strangers and have added Gabrina Garza to my must-read list!

Book Utopia Mom (Sex Between Strangers is on her 2007 Best Stories List!)

I’m not sure if it was my mood or something else, but this short story really got to me. Sara has been mourning her husband’s death, though it’s as much about being lonely as it is missing him specifically. When it looks like the entire process might be delayed, she forsakes having to start over in favor of taking her new man home, even though he both doesn’t have all his memories yet and isn’t exactly the clean slate she’d been promised. There’s a definite melancholy throughout the first two-thirds of the story that is poignant and moving. It sucked me in and made me ache for both Sara and Dace, the Marine who now houses her husband’s memories.

The author has a simple style, which works well in a short story setting. There’s nothing fancy about her prose, so it makes it easy to read and follow. If anything, though, I would have liked to see a little more explanation for some of the sci-fi stuff. It comes across sometimes as merely a plot device to have this sweet romance. That’s not necessarily a bad thing since it is a short story. I guess my main quibble is that I just wanted the story longer.

That being said, this was a very sweet, romantic tale. It occasionally borders on the simple, but you know, sometimes that’s a welcome change. I fell for Dace and Sara’s romance head over heels, in spite of some of my other misgivings. Maybe it was just what the doctor ordered.
